Why Outreach and Collaborations:
You know that you and your library are a key part of your community. But, is all of your community aware of that? Let them know through your actions. Take you and your library services out to them. In and out of the library, offer services to new populations. Bring in new collaborators to the library. Make yourself visible to stakeholders while at the same time serving the traditionally underserved. Larger community engagement secures your and your library's value and the value and future of libraries everywhere. When we collaborate with other organizations, we can attract other user segments making the library more attractive. New types of interactions can help to build more trustworthy relationships within our communities. We build capacity. Sharing resources and avoiding duplication always pleases those holding the purse strings. It can also takes some pressure off of overworked staff. Grander ideas become possible.
